May 30th is a holiday

Indian Arrival Day is celebrated on 30th May and it commemorates the arrival of the first Indian Indentured laborers from India to Trinidad. They arrived in May1845, on the ship Fatel Razack. This event has been celebrated among the East Indian community in Trinidad and Tobago for years but it was only in 1994 that it was declared an official public holiday. This is called Indian Arrival Day.

The World Steelband Music Festival started in 1952 as a category in the National Music Festival.
